About Ramble
Our mission is to enable awesome experiences camping outdoors with family and friends. At Ramble we are combining a love for the outdoors with a deep understanding of technology and customer data analysis, disrupting the traditional “parking lot”-style campground industry by creating a better nature-oriented camping experience and making it available to all across the US.
About This Role
We are looking for a Director of Architecture to join our team. Your primary role will be to design the campsite structures and experience for all of our locations and help manage their construction and deployment. This job will result in you spending time on-site in some of the most beautiful land this country has to offer, traveling to national and state parks and to locations that will range from deserts in the southwest to mountains in the west to heavily wooded areas in the northeast. You will be a part of the team that will analyze a wide variety of datasets to help Ramble determine optimal campground locations, features and experiences. In this role you will report directly to the CEO -- who previously co-founded and helped build a 300+ person technology company with tens of millions of customers -- and work cross functionally with all of our team members.
Responsibilities
• Design various shade, dining and living structures to enable awesome experiences for our campers, with an emphasis on resilient and reusable materials, rapid construction and deployment, and anticipation of the elements.
• Manage the rapid prototyping and testing of multiple variants of potential structures and/or installations in our indoor Golden, CO-based testing facility and outdoor Evergreen, CO-based R&D land.
• Leverage existing products and structures combined with proprietary in-house constructed items in an agile, scrappy fashion.
• Work with 3rd party contractors to have the structures and items you've designed and tested be built at scale.
• Travel to locations across the US, including areas surrounding national parks, state parks, major interstates and metropolitan areas.
• Camp in a variety of existing / competitor sites to gain a deep understanding of the camper experience, both in general and for a given location type.
Requirements
• Relevant Director-level architecture experience, or equivalent, in a residential or commercial firm.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• Experience with space planning, FF&E specifications, material selections, and codes.
• Comfort with and advocacy for a "first principles" approach to solving problems.
• A love for the outdoors and travel.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to weigh and solve for multiple constraints and considerations in potential designs.
• Ability to work with our R&D team to identify and assess potential locations against a wide variety of proprietary variables.
• Ability to take initiative and work with a high level of independence.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with minimal supervision.
