Visual Communication Designer - Float (Remote)

Float is more than just the world’s leading resource planner. From New York to Sydney, Toronto to Cape Town - their team works asynchronously to help brands such as Airbnb, Buzzfeed, and Ogilvy plan and manage their time better. Float is looking for a Visual Communication Designer with proven experience combining visual and illustration design to develop human centred brand experiences from start to finish. You’ll partner with our Product Design Lead and work closely with our Director of Marketing to evolve the visual brand language. You’ll be instrumental in bringing a more human element to the Float brand through creating unique illustration and design across all touchpoints. Examples of the work you will play a key part in includes taking ownership of and rebranding our blog from your first day, creating article post illustrations, evolving the design of the Float marketing site, creating engaging infographics and imagery for social and digital marketing communication channels.

Down the road you may also lead projects like:

  • Float digital publication design

  • Cross-channel marketing campaigns

  • Float email redesign

  • In-app design and visual enhancements

  • Enhance Float tools and content

  • Brand swag design

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • A design focus that strongly leans into the brand and marketing spaces and associated skill sets

  • High-level illustration skills to define the Float illustration style, and application across all touchpoints

  • Effective communication skills to deliver work and ideas in a collaborative async environment

  • Ability to communicate complex features into visually simple and engaging design executions

  • Responsive design experience from early lo-fidelity iteration to working with developers to implement your final design

  • Great eye and attention for detail to continually raise the bar across all channels and delivering to technical specifications

  • Proficiency in design tools to maintain and evolve the Float Marketing design system

  • Willingness to explore pushing the boundaries of design into new opportunities

  • (Bonus!) Motion design and animation skills

From day one, you’ll have access to Float’s full brand assets and design system available in Figma and Notion that you will work with various teams to help define and elevate. Your work will be measured by high-quality design outputs, meeting deadlines effectively and identifying and driving opportunities to progress Floats brand design, marketing and product opportunities.
