Product Designer - nTopology

nTopology is looking to add a Product Designer that is passionate about problem-solving and passionate about technology. This role will collaborate closely with product designers, developers, product managers, and stakeholders in building a design tool for mechanical engineers and industrial designers. Our design team is located in NYC and preference will be given to candidates located on the East Coast.

What You'll Do

    • Work with the Platform Experience and Interactivity Teams to identify which user problems are most important to solve for our users and business.

    • Design beautiful solutions to help our users learn the software confidently and quickly, and that help to grow and nurture our user community.

    • Create journey maps, user flow diagrams, architecture diagrams, wireframes, and specifications to collaborate with software engineers, designers, and PMs.

    • Conduct user research to understand the why behind key pain points.

    • Engage with users and elicit needs and requirements in a dynamic and occasionally ambiguous environment.

    • Work closely with engineers to challenge and revise existing design systems to optimize for usability and scalability.

    • Inspire the design team and collaborate with us to fine tune our process.

Who You Are

    • 2-5 years of relevant product design experience.

    • Familiar with a range of mediums - web, mobile, desktop, or industrial design.

    • Excellent skills with information architecture, visual, interface, and interaction design.

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Design field, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.

    • Self-directed and able to make an impact on a short timeline.

    • Strategic thinking and passion for design systems, business strategy, and processes.

    • Highly empathetic.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong communication skills. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions across teams.

    • Data-focused design mentality looking to inform your design decisions based on user feedback and data insight, like A/B testing, user testing, and user interviews.

    • Open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.

    • Excited to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment

It's A Plus If You've Got These

    • Understanding of and experience with modern CAD/CAE/CAM engineering software, technologies, and workflows.

    • Experience with 3D modeling programs, Animation, VFX, VR, AR, or similar.

    • Experience with at least one the following topics: visual programming language, functional programming, object oriented programming, no-code apps.
