VP of Architecture and Design - Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants (Remote)

Your Day-to-day
Think with an owner mindset to help owners deliver a high quality product that stands the test of time.
Leads the A+D function to become the best in class in supporting owners to go through the construction journey while driving key metrics that support NSSG including pace of ground breaks, NHOPS, conversions & re-openings.
Owns hotel design and construction from signing to opening/re-opening:
For mainstream brands, creating efficient, effective, owner centric process to improve speed and delivery
For our upscale and luxury brands, creating a repeatable but bespoke, consultative process
Oversee cyclical capital refurbishment and expansion capital projects (i.e., acquisitions, new builds, renovations) involving Kimpton investment
Working with Brand-led, dedicated cross-functional project resources and teams, leads design, design innovation and technical aspects of EC-approved regional and global growth initiatives. Ensures these are delivered on brand and with an owner mindset.
Leads an expanding team of highly specialized architecture and design talent and can manage the team to deliver different work products, from high-volume PIPs for mainstream to bespoke plans for upscale.
Provides coaching and thought leadership to the team, actively works to attract and retain specialized talent, and effectively role models effective cross-functional leadership.
Supports compliance of architectural and engineering specifications, Fire, Life & Safety and environmental requirements with Kimpton standards and specifications.
Specific Experience We're Seeking
12+ years related work experience leading design, architecture, and construction of hotels or similar multi-unit buildings. Knowledge of hotel operations and franchise development.
Deep strategic understanding of Kimpton's goals, industry dynamics and owner's expectations and strong ability to think from a macro and micro perspective.
Experience leading cross-functional teams, driving system or culture change, communicating and collaborating effectively with senior leadership in a complex matrix organization.
An experienced leader who understands hotel opening process and operations with solid background in asset management and project management.

Education And/Or Experience
Bachelors or Master's degree in Business, Architecture, Structural Engineering and/or relevant experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or telephone. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
