Visual Design Consultant - Deloitte (Chicago, NY, and Seattle)

Doblin, a Deloitte business, is seeking experienced and ambitious designers to join our New York and Chicago studios who can work across the design process to imagine and bring to life future products, services, and experiences. As a Design Consultant, you will be a core member of our integrated, multi-disciplinary teams, working to conceive, prototype, and launch solutions to our clients’ most complex challenges.

Our Designers are skilled at responding to human needs and business priorities to shape and bring to life bold new solutions.  They are also experts at communicating them to teams and clients in ways that elevate the impact of our work.

YOUR WORK AS A DOBLIN DESIGNER

  • Synthesize complex and varied information from numerous inputs into cohesive, compelling stories that are told through presentations, posters, videos, websites, and more

  • Define and develop concepts and prototypes of products, services, and experiences at varying levels of fidelity to test with users and stakeholders

  • Use interdisciplinary thinking to ground all ideas in research insights and design constraints

  • Design and support engaging workshops with internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders

  • Be involved in all aspects of the design process, including field research, business model design, and launching and scaling solutions in-market

  • Work with a diverse team of experts, including from Deloitte’s global network of industry and domain experts, to amplify the impact of your work

  • Apply your expertise across industries and at multiple levels of ambition to hone your craft

  • Support the development of client pitches and the development and of intellectual property – often to non-designers

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Tradecraft

  • Demonstrable comfort with the ambiguity of working in and defining unknown spaces

  • Experience working in dynamic conditions that require fast iterations and rapid transitions between collaborative and individual work, including in Agile teams

  • The ability to respond proactively and thoughtfully to design critique and feedback on content, including from clients and non-designers

  • An instinct to infuse empathy and behavioral analysis into all aspects of your work

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills when working with teams and clients

  • Fluency with a range of design tools for prototyping and visual communication: Adobe Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint, Sketch, etc.

Team development

  • Participation in Doblin’s design community, to continually push the boundaries to advance the field of design here

  • Ability to provide feedback and guidance to more junior design team members

Required qualifications and expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a design-related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant design experience, preferably in agency or consultancy

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent command of composition, typography, color, and fundamental communication

  • Willingness to be based in New York, Seattle or Chicago

  • Travel up to 50% (while 50% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
