Creative Prototyper - Google (Multiple U.S. Locations)

Google is seeking a Creative Prototyper to work across visual and experiential mediums.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, Interactive Design or equivalent practical experience

  • 4 years of industry experience in developing public-facing interactive applications/exhibits both digital and physical

  • Experience in creative technology, interactive design, and leading creative technology initiatives

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in testing and prototyping new technologies while working with production engineering teams and working with other creatives

  • Familiarity with all aspects of physical installation and design (e.g., scenic design fabrication, AV design and integration, software and/or hardware development)

  • Creative problem solver, who is able to balance multiple projects at once

As a Creative Prototyper on the Experience Studio Interactives team, you will be a hybrid technologist and designer. You’ll work with a team lead to understand the creative brief scope (e.g., needs, goals, requirements, etc). Team leads and Creative Prototypers partner together to develop fully formed concepts and detailed designs that address creative briefs. Your designs are developed by user testing and past experience with user-facing experiences. You will work on multiple projects at once of various sizes and complexities. You must be comfortable working with internal teams, external vendors, and collaborating with partners. You are self-organized and able to regularly update project teams on the progress, hurdles, and urgent topics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage concept and platform/technology research and experimentation to output new concepts and prototypes

  • Develop concept, design, and documentation for visual and experience design.

  • Stay current on Google technologies and products, build relationships with Google teams to identify opportunities to collaborate and develop new exhibits, installations, and content.

  • Create product roadmaps to generate technical design documents for execution requirements.

  • Partner with engineering colleagues to incorporate needed capabilities by engineering teams.
