As part of a team of engineers you will primarily support the Space Destinations program, performing tasks across the stages of the “systems engineering V” from concept ideation through flight system development: systems architecting, requirements generation, design, integration, verification, and validation to affect the full system development lifecycle.
This opportunity reports to the Systems Engineering Section inside of the Advanced Development Programs ADP business unit. Responsibilities:
While maintaining the customer experience, coordinate, define, present and craft the distributed systems required in an Orbital Habitat
Represent architectural intuition as application agnostic requirements to link story telling with the as-designed artifacts
Design artifacts to the previously defined requirements
Contribute to the completion of technical tasks and artifacts through the products life cycle including trade studies, system architectures, system analyses, outfitting conceptual designs, and habitat configurations
Work with customers under general supervision to follow Blue Origin and program-specific procedures and standards
Qualifications:
B.S. in Architecture, Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
Understanding of several systems engineering methods such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, or operations
Demonstrated ability to use engineering skills used to design, develop, and evaluate astronautical/mechanical/structural systems and hardware, thermal, life support, electrical, etc.
Experience regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
Familiarity with 3D design tools (e.g. Creo)
Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired (but not required):
Successful candidates typically have 3+ years of combined relevant experience in architecture and an aerospace related technical subject area
A portfolio of practical, inspiring designs for habitable space systems
Knowledge of orbital and lunar surface environments
Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
