DIMO enables thousands of vehicle owners and operators to collect, use, and monetize the data their vehicles generate. We're building an open developer platform to transform the massive vehicle data and connected car market, and bootstrapping the supply and demand side with the $DIMO token.

Our core team is made up of experienced IoT, automotive, mobility, and web3 engineers, designeers, and operators, and we are committed to building a distributed organization.

We are looking for a Digital Designer to join our team. This person will become an integral part of the DIMO Design Team by designing product features for our mobile app and Explorer, developing and growing the DIMO Design System, and contributing to company growth by designing graphics for social media and blog posts. They’ll engage deeply with the community through Discord and other channels and work with the team to determine opportunities for improvement, innovation, and refinement of the DIMO brand. As typical of startups, this person will be willing to take on new challenges and execute, calling on the core team resources and DIMO community.

What you will do:

    • Partner with designers, product managers, engineers, contractors, growth, and the founders to produce meaningful graphics and designs in our mobile app and across our brand.

    • Work closely with the product design team to create new features and interactions in the DIMO mobile app and DIMO’s desktop product.

    • Create, improve, and maintain internal libraries and documentation around our design system and process while enabling colleagues and community members to effortlessly use the DIMO brand.

    • Create low and high fidelity designs and prototypes in Figma to communicate designs to engineers, designers, and key decision makers.

    • Help define DIMO’s brand across every part of the company, including social media, investor decks, swag, our mobile app, our website, and plenty more.

We're looking for someone who has:

    • An outstanding visual design portfolio that demonstrates proficiency in typography, color, visual hierarchy and includes clear examples of creative execution.

    • 2+ years of creative experience across web, mobile, graphic, brand, and interaction design.

    • Fluency with Figma or Sketch, the Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign), and other creative tools.

    • An appetite for iteration and innovation to arrive at the best solutions for design challenges.

    • An ability to take complex ideas and communicate them simply to a wide audience through words, graphics, and layouts.

It'd be nice to find someone who also has:

    • Knowledge of the mobility/connected vehicle/self driving space.

    • Experience in web3, consumer software, or financial services.

    • Knowledge of Blender 3D, Cinema 4D, and/or Keyshot.

    • Video-editing skills.

    • Startup or entrepreneurship experience.

    • Experience building and maintaining design systems including components, libraries, templates, and documentation.

We'd like to know:

    • What’s your preferred design process and how has it changed over your career?

    • Walk us through the most complete project you’ve designed to date – it’s ok if it’s a school project, but any real-world work is preferred. Bonus points for opening the project files and going step-by-step.

    • What are your strengths and weaknesses as a designer? Are you really good at illustration but not the best at layouts? Do you love design systems but struggle with photo editing? Bonus points for showing examples of both your strengths and weaknesses from projects you’ve worked on.

Life @ DIMO:

We are a global, remote-friendly company. For those local to Detroit or New York, we have in-person office space for you to pull up a chair and work IRL. Team members can expect quarterly in-person events once individuals feel comfortable traveling again.
