About the Role

As an Architectural or Industrial Designer at Assembly, you will work with internal and external specialists to create the innovative “kit of parts” that is the basis of our deployable off-site architectural system. This is a great opportunity to grow and learn in an exciting startup environment where you can gain meaningful exposure to a wide variety of specialties and skills. This role is also unusually flexible in terms of career growth, with ample opportunities to gain experience and promotion within different functional disciplines.

You Will:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with both external consultants & fabricators and internal systems designers, architects, and engineers to develop prefabricated architectural components and systems

  • Support the execution of design documentation of those systems through rigorously detailed models, drawings, specifications, etc

  • Effectively manage correspondence and information flow to & from stakeholders to facilitate design progress and decision making

  • Plan and participate in iterative prototyping of new and improved systems

  • Develop sketches, illustrations and renderings of designs and their assembly processes

  • Prepare presentations and executive summaries to document design versioning and gate reviews

  • Distill systems design criteria into easily understandable architectural design guidelines, product data sheets, and assembly manuals

 

You Are:

  • A creative, team-oriented architectural or industrial designer

  • A tactful, effective communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment

  • Excited and able to learn new software programs, and to use detailed parametric modeling to optimize design workflows

 

You Have:

  • Experience in architectural or industrial design

  • Fluency in digital modeling software for design & coordination. Catia experience a plus

  • Attention to detail and an interest in understanding how things are made. Experience in fabrication or construction a plus

  • A high degree of self-motivation, flexibility, and resourcefulness
