User Experience Designer - SpaceX (Hawthone, CA)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and conduct user research to inform the design and development for Starlink products and services

  • Plan and execute user research studies, analyze data, present findings to key stakeholders, and work closely with cross-functional teams to incorporate user insights into product development

  • Conduct user research (Beta testing, interviews, and surveys) to understand customer needs, goals, and pain points in relation to the hardware / unboxing experience

  • Partner with the design and product teams to ensure that research insights are integrated into the product development process

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices by conducting product benchmarking

  • Provide guidance and training biased on user research finding to customer operations and service team

  • Understand business strategy and develop user insights that align with and support business goals

  • Work with team members to identify, prioritize, and scope UX related design and product cut timelines

  • Collaborate with reliability and customer operations teams identify long term pain points and implement reliability testing objectives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design (e.g. visual communications, interaction, graphic, product, industrial), human-computer interaction, or computer science

  • 3+ years of experience designing user-facing software products

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with interdisciplinary project management across many departments. Interdisciplinary fundamentals and multidisciplinary project execution is the key to success in this role

  • Experience developing and presenting concise summaries to drive decision making

  • Prior experience with the full hardware product life cycle

  • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision and on schedule

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: 

Pay Range:   

Level 1: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year    
Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
