purpose
The Design Manager (DM) supports the project teams and reports directly to the HDD and Project Director. In this capacity the DM will contribute to the realization of new hotels from the initial stages of the project until handover to the operations team. In this role they are a key-player for managing the quality of the hotel-product and the integration of citizenM’s brand standards.
The DM will be the main-responsible person to guide the design process and the design team in the hotel development, in quality, in time, in budget, checking compliance with citizenM brand standards and obtaining the requirements and approval from internal citizenM departments. The Design Manager must uphold the quality standards and design standards and lead the design process.
Key Responsibilities
is in the lead for all design aspects of the development with support from the HDD
leads design meetings with external consultants with support from the HDD
implements the citizenM brand and culture training and education of external professional teams
responsible for quality control on site and works in progress
check full compliance with citizenM brand standards and registers any deviations and expedites internal approvals
works in tandem with citizenM’s Designer, SDI managers and the external professional teams implementing design packages from different citizenM departments (Operations, Food & Beverage, IT and Marketing etc.)
coordinate and manage client direct supply items
provide timely and accurate knowledge transfer to local development partners and internal citizenM departments
assist the PD in performance evaluation of external professionals
assist the PD in reporting costs and timing consequences of design change orders
project administration (Proquro)
approvals and hand over management contributes to the standardization effort by involvement in product groups
manages and reports project RFI’s to the HDD to assist in standardization
Qualifications / Skills
minimum bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent
minimum 5 year’s experience in a design & development organization
knowledge of and practical experience with Autocad, sketch-up, BIM/Revit
experience level to guide two citizenM Hotel developments at the same time
internationally oriented and willing to frequently travel within US/EU
social person to excel within different countries, customs and cultures
excellent organization skills
effective collaboration and communication skills

This position is based in the Seattle Support office. This is a full time, hybrid position with a 25% travel requirement.
