As a 3D Artist on the Horizon Experiences Art Team, you will serve as a craft expert, utilizing your hands-on expertise to drive products forward. Your responsibilities include honing the skills of the Art Team, ensuring that all artistic techniques and methods are of the highest quality, and collaborating with the Art Director and Technical Artists to advocate for the creation of tools that optimize workflows. This role involves delivering top-quality assets and aiding in the development and mentorship of other artists. Additionally, you will work closely with cross-functional teams (XFN) to integrate your technical expertise into the product strategy effectively. You will also collaborate with a wide range of disciplines, including product design, engineers, producers, product managers, and art direction, to ideate, create, and improve art pipelines, and build assets and worlds that define the future of social XR.

3D Artist, Horizon Responsibilities
Partner closely with art leadership and the engineering and design teams to define and develop polished products for VR/MR/XR
Work with engineers and technical artists to inform asset creation pipelines and implement systems
Oversee and manage layout, implementation and optimization of environment and interactive objects (including models, textures and shaders).
Manage external vendors and provide feedback on externally developed projects.
Responsible for outlining asset authoring guidelines, process and pipeline as needed.
Quickly solve issues, collaborate, and iterate within the team and cross-functional peers.
Demonstrate broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks.
Demonstrate strong time management and prioritization skills.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop task lists to ensure assignments are progressing in alignment with schedules, milestones and overall project goals.
Mentoring and developing other artists
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience in the video-games industry as a 3D environment artist or similar role.
2+ years experience as a senior, lead, or similar role.
Real-time production experience.
Provable pipeline and workflow development experience.
Knowledge of 3D modelling and asset creation packages like Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Knald, Marmoset, Photoshop, etc.
Generalist knowledge in skills such as modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, physics and particle systems.
Experience with one or more commercial game engines (e.g. Unreal or Unity).
Proven communication skills across a multi-disciplinary team, including engineers, artists, and designers.
Task driven, self-motivated, proactive & works well under deadlines.
Proven experience to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional content development experience, including shipping one or more AAA titles
Prior virtual reality experience
Experience creating textures and materials in Substance
Look development experience
Experience working in a variety of visual styles
Experience locating and resolving content and asset performance bottlenecks through investigation and content optimization
Shader development experience
Experience in layout and level design
Proven experience leading teams of artists in the creation of levels or game environments

$149,000/year to $205,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
