Manager, Concept Development, Design - adidas (Portland, OR)
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization
Develop and support Consumer Experience Store Concept for NAM that reflects the consumer and market distribution needs following a global guidance towards a consumer centric brand experience for all DTC physical retail touchpoints.
This role is responsible for supporting the Store Design, Maintenance and Construction team with flawless execution of concepts & formats (hyper-localization). Identify concept intention and customize according to market needs; collaborate with global partners regarding adjustments if global standard is not accurate, making recommendations for relevant localization changes.

Key Responsibilities
Manages the planning and implementation of store design which includes all new stores, existing fleet remodels, and if necessary, closures
Completing testifies and feasibility studies for design projects
Designs effective store layouts that optimize space utilization, and consistency adapts and translates store prototypes to various site conditions and locations
coordinating with construction team on budget considerations and value engineering efforts
Driving and creating schematic design packages
Reviewing construction documents, shop drawings and landlord documentation
Clearly and effectively communicating with cross functional teams and team leadership to successfully facilitate the implementation of store design
Support external retail agencies for concept development adaptations & iterations specific for North America, including required principles and guidelines.
Support relevant teams creating clear requirements and development of guidelines, structure and positioning to execute concepts whilst ensuring continued alignment to brand objectives and positioning
Create and document design input for concept adaptations & iterations based on defined development pre-requisites and align on final outcome when necessary
Analyse and document industry leading innovations in retail design and digital experience and ensure commerciality of concept with NAM expectations
Collaborate with global consumer experience team and global brand design teams whenever required
Manage own projects and tasks requiring in depth knowledge and judgment within design concepts and ensure alignment

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Expert in applying and performing design skills including drawing/sketching, spatial design in scale, visual presentation development and space planning layouts in 2D and 3D
Demonstrate expertise using computer design applications including AutoCad or VectorWorks, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, V-ray, Miro, and Adobe Creative Suite
Proven ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands and changes
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaborate with teams across a mix of complex projects
Fully qualified and experienced in store design, with combined theoretical and practical knowledge
Demonstrating strength in delivering progressively complex projects of varying scale, budgets and timelines
Strong organisation skills and flexibility.
Strong Visualisation skills in 2D & 3D to illustrate design ideas
Furniture design, material knowledge & detailing skills are an advantage
Interest in technical & design innovations
IT: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit or similar, Adobe Creative Suite
Requisite Education And Experience / Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture, environmental design, interior architecture, or related fields or equivalent qualification as carpenter, interior decorator or similar
Retail design industry/environments in concepts and programs, fixture design experience preferred
1+ years working with Global markets
1+ project or process management experience
