Ideal Experience:
Proficiency across all design phases, from site planning (integrating site constraints, hardscape, and patio design) through conceptual design (translating client input into layouts, spatial planning, and stylistic direction), schematic design (refining concepts with initial specifications), and construction documentation (finalizing detailed specifications for building). Portfolio should reflect high-quality, intentional work at every stage.
Knowledgeable in permitting, HOA processes, and US residential construction standards.
Skilled in designing various home styles, including Craftsman, Tudor, and French Country, with a strong ability to adapt to aesthetic and functional requirements and demonstrated expertise in structural elements like roof, window wall, and stair design.
Background in energy-efficient and sustainable design, including net-zero and budget-conscious projects.
Collaborative approach to design, engaging with teams and clients to sketch, discuss, and refine concepts in real-time, using live feedback and collective input to improve design quality.
Have mentored and trained team members to design homes independently, ensuring they meet all project constraints and maintain high-quality standards while working autonomously.
Proficiency with Dynamo or other scripting/coding tools is preferred
Your Objective:
To elevate the company’s design quality and processes by delivering high-quality, custom homes that exceed client expectations and meet all design, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership: Lead custom home design projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with client vision and high-quality standards. Provide and receive constructive design feedback, perform QA/QC on team deliverables, improve design, modeling, and drawing processes, and support fellow designers with expertise and guidance.
Client Engagement: Manage client relationships, guiding them through the design process with empathy and professionalism.
Project Reliability: Consistently deliver design work on schedule, ensuring seamless project progression.
Technical Excellence: Produce and oversee detailed construction documents & 3d visualizations maintaining consistency and accuracy.
Permitting & HOA Coordination: Proactively address permitting and HOA requirements to prevent issues and ensure timely approvals.
Quality Control: Deliver all designs to a high standard, continually refining processes to ensure consistent quality across all deliverables.
Site & Land Integration: Consider land development factors to ensure designs are viable and aligned with site conditions.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with design teams, project managers, product and engineering to deliver cohesive, integrated solutions.
Collaborate With:
Revenue Team: Design prototypical homes for market listings, ensuring renders align with market analysis and neighborhood constraints, and coordinate project timelines.
Homebuyer Sales Team: Conduct design intake meetings to gather client input and develop custom schematic home designs tailored to the potential homebuyers.
3D Team: Prepare models for 3D rendering handoff, improve the handoff process, QA/QC 3D deliverables for design intent, coordinate schedules, and provide specifications for colors, materials, and other selections to guide accurate rendering.
Project Management: Coordinate project schedules and meetings based on design and 3D team bandwidth, manage selections and specifications, and provide detailed design and model data to support accurate project pricing.
