Senior Exhibition Designer, Creative Play Spaces - Discover Children's Story Centre (London, UK)

Discover is seeking an experienced designer who is passionate about play, inclusion and imaginations to design the next chapter of our award winning immersive exhibitions for children aged 0-9 and their families. We’re looking for someone with experience of designing wildly imaginative 3D spaces, ready to be inspired by the world of children’s literature and able to manage small teams and project budgets. You’ll be a leading member of a friendly and dynamic team in Stratford in a well-established organisation with NPO status, serving over 125,000 children and their families each year with unique hands on experiences, transforming lives through stories.

Essential: 

  • Track record of imaginative 3D design for play, learning or exhibition spaces, ideally for children 

  • Fully proficient in 3D modelling programmes (eg Sketch Up), able to create detailed layouts and spatial designs suitable both for presentations and as technical scaled models for construction companies, carpenters and set builders 

  • Skilled artworker, able to manipulate and prepare files using Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Experienced in project development and management, able to prepare briefs, manage budgets, support colleagues and collaborate successfully with production team, publishers and other creatives 

  • Able to work with high level of independence as well as happy collaborating across teams 

  • Demonstrably committed to enabling children’s imaginations to thrive, inclusion, environmental sustainability and creating the extraordinary 

 

Desirable: 

  • Experience as leader of a major design project 

  • Knowledge of early years foundation and of different learning styles 

  • Knowledge of children’s literature, the story sector and / or publishing
