Blue Origin is seeking a technically-minded and passionate systems administrator to manage the successful use of cutting-edge XR (Augmented and Virtual Reality) systems and solutions. As part of a hardworking and growing team, you will manage multiple XR systems across our facilities and ensure smooth operation and administration of XR tools that will directly impact design iteration cycles, quality, and manufacturing processes that will bring further exploration of space.
You will work with brilliant technical designers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and many others on using XR technologies across an array of environments and use-cases. You will have an eager set of customers who seek help from you in utilizing emerging technologies to enable their work.
A successful administrator will be passionate about the XR landscape of hardware and software and have rich experience with Augmented and Virtual Reality systems including the latest generation of consumer and enterprise headsets and input devices. With a complex and constantly evolving ecosystem of tools within XR technologies, smooth and successful use can be a challenge that requires proactive thinking, a commitment to quality, and a constant desire to improve.
They are quick learners who are eager to get hands-on with new systems and solutions. They document relentlessly and have experience writing user guides that make the technological complexities disappear to the user and allow for a straightforward user experience. Most importantly, they bring passion and energy to work everyday and work to enable everyone around them to be successful in their efforts.
Responsibilities:
Provide local and remote technical support for successful use of AR and VR systems
Set up, maintain, and constantly improve VR lab systems and operations
Host collaborative VR sessions and technology demonstrations
Work with development team on best practices for data management and session administration
Write user documentation for VR and AR system usage
Pathfinding of new tools, methods, or applications of XR technologies
Qualification:
3+ years experience managing or developing XR systems in a professional capacity
Experience with the latest developments of the VR hardware and software ecosystems (HTC, Meta, Varjo, etc.)
Industry knowledge of the latest developments of the AR ecosystem (HoloLens, Magic Leap, Vuzix, RealWear, etc.)
Rich understanding of Information Technology systems and methods
Ability to travel up to 20%
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
A strong passion for emerging technology and space exploration
Experience providing remote computer and software support
Experience managing CAD data and 3D models
Experience developing in Unity or Unreal
Experience editing videos
