The Position
At Rudin, we are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives to join us as a Sustainability Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive these initiatives across our extensive real estate portfolio and report directly to the VP, Head of Sustainability.
Responsibilities:
As a Sustainability Manager at Rudin, your key responsibilities will include assisting in the planning, designing, implementing, and tracking sustainability and ESG programs. You will play a crucial role in defining and achieving reduction goals, including waste, water, energy, and carbon goals.
Spearhead the attainment and renewal of LEED, WELL, and EnergyStar certifications across Rudin’s property portfolio.
Assist with supporting WELL at Scale membership and integrating health & wellness into corporate and portfolio initiatives.
Manage LEED certification and standards, serve as the point of contact for tenant LEED efforts, and stay informed on USGBC changes.
Evaluate and pilot alternative green building certifications as needed.
Stay informed of local and federal sustainability/ESG regulations and ensure the company's practices align with compliance standards.
Assist in implementation to support a high level of environmental responsibility.
Oversight of Local Laws: 84, 87, 88, 95, and 97
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to and lead the implementation of comprehensive waste reduction strategies in the portfolio and corporate.
Develop and execute educational programs to raise employee and tenant awareness about waste reduction initiatives.
Facilitate training sessions and workshops to encourage sustainable practices within the workplace and across tenant spaces.
Coordinate waste audits/surveys as needed.
Oversee the gathering of data.
Work closely with vendors to ensure compliance with sustainability goals and explore innovative solutions.
Act as a key contact for sustainability vendors, providing direction and coordination for initiatives.
Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) and ESG Reporting Platforms - Oversight and maintenance of data maintained on individual platforms and data that is shared to other platforms
Assist and manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring project delivery on schedule and within financial targets.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop best-in-class sustainable and ESG guidelines and policies.
Coordinate and assist internal stakeholders in implementing, tracking and reporting company and portfolio-wide sustainability and ESG strategies.
Support the Head of Sustainability in presentations, education, tenant engagement and overall strategy development.
Requirements:
5-8 years of relevant experience in real estate and sustainability, focusing on NYC.
Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, sustainable architecture, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field.
Familiarity with real estate sustainability best practices, encompassing energy, water, and waste management efficiency, building systems, and sustainability certifications.
In-depth knowledge of LEED and WELL certification processes and requirements and processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Proficient with relevant software tools for sustainability assessment and reporting
Strong project management & organizational skills with the ability to run multiple projects/initiatives concurrently.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Confident in leading and working independently or as part of a team, able to adapt as needed.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional accreditation in relevant sustainability certifications.
Total Compensation:
The base salary range* for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 per year
This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus
