Store Designer - Van Leeuwen (Brooklyn, NY)

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Store Designer to join our Store Development team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work closely with the growing team at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of major growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in designing multiple retail locations in the food and beverage industry.
Our Store Designer will report directly to our Concept Design Manager and will be based out of the New York City Metropolitan Area.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work directly with the Director of Store Development and Concept Design Manager to create test-fits and feasibility studies of designs
Provide design support including creation of project schematic designs, SketchUp models/renderings, while managing communication and follow-up of external vendors and consultants
Assist in the review of all schematic, design development and final construction drawings to ensure brand standards and budget compliance
Identify and source key brand design elements, not limited to furniture, lighting fixtures, artwork installations, equipment, etc.; while functioning as a liaison for all vendors involved to ensure seamless procurement, delivery and installation
Communicate design status and critical milestones to key project players (ie. Real Estate partners/committee, Architect of Record, MEP Engineer(s), General Contractors and other internal + external consultants)– with clear and consistent direction regarding overall goals/objectives, design/operational Standards, site conditions, scheduling and budgets particular to each project
Conduct site visits, as necessary
JOB REQUIREMENTS
At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role; restaurant design experience preferred
A bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or similar field
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop) and Excel; experience with G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, etc.) is a plus
A passion for brand design & ice cream
A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team, with the ability to manage independent workload
A desire to learn, grow, and develop professionally
Very strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel about 25% of the time

$70,000—$100,000 USD
