In addition, we enable sponsorships of our world-class editorial output across passion-driven BBC.com brands including News, Sport, Business, Innovation, Culture, Earth as well as social/digital exclusive extensions of globally beloved brands like Bluey and Top Gear. StoryWorks custom content solutions for partners are multi-platform ranging from content syndication, to dynamic articles, short and long form films, podcasts, and live experiences. The unit prioritizes scalable, strategic, audience-first solutions to ensure campaigns always deliver on partner KPIs.
The Position
The Senior Designer for BBC StoryWorks Americas will serve a crucial role in our commercial business as a key contributor and collaborator as we bring to life partnership narratives and concepts through dynamic collateral that aids our team in a wide range of pre-sale and business development scenarios. The position will also ensure the visuals and design standards for campaigns sold are executed with consistency and a standard of excellence.
The Senior Designer will have a critical voice in crafting BBC’s commercial creative studio’s brand visuals. The role will work closely with creative strategists and marketers to create, and set standards for, captivating presentations, pitch materials, web collateral, design mocks, and motion graphic elements. The Senior Designer will be an expert visual storyteller with experience developing narratives through design for a variety of industries and audiences (both B2B and B2C). They will also use their expertise to support team members with more limited design experience utilize templates and tools to maintain the highest standards of visual storytelling across all partner and public facing materials.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Elevate and maintain design standards for all BBC StoryWorks Americas and commercial campaign pre-sale collateral and commercial marketing materials inclusive of, but not limited to, presentations, pitch decks, BBC Commercial Marketing web materials, partner mocks)
Participate in defining and evolving the BBC StoryWorks’ holistic visual identity to keep it fresh and steward the usage of brand guidelines, logos and elevated design standards across all commercial BBC initiatives and partnerships
Build and set standards for partner presentations that deliver engaging creative and phenomenal storytelling, and develop visually engaging design solutions that amplify ideas and integrate data in our materials
Collaborate with creative strategy & marketing team members to construct visual strategy, narratives and copy that will resonate against prospects & partner objectives
Maintain and continually optimize templates and tools for broader creative teams’ use and coach/empower team members to utilize templates and tools for efficiency in RFPs responses and other less design intensive creative materials
Work effectively within a fast-paced commercial team, while able to integrate with other departments, specifically sales and marketing teams, ensuring you maintain excellent relationships throughout.
Lead communication, quality control, and process with external design agencies and vendors as necessary
Keep abreast of industry trends, tools, innovations and inspiration to keep pushing the creative department forward in it’s visual storytelling capabilities
Be responsible for creating a positive working environment for colleagues from a diversity of backgrounds and experiences.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of experience producing pre-sale multi-platform design collateral
Experience at an advertising/creative agency or media/entertainment/news brand
Extensive portfolio of consistently great work demonstrating creative flair, expert visual storytelling, and campaign winning proposals
Experience working within a sales/marketing department, with developing strategic ideas, campaigns, and pitches
Proficiency in Adobe Creative (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft Office Suite (PPT)
Expert design sense with the ability to conceptualize and implement visually dynamic solutions for presenting data, content concepts both abstract and straightforward, and digital products
Able to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders and deliver in ambiguous, fast changing and complex environments.
Desired Qualifications
A passion for and an understanding of the commercial landscape in which the role operates.
Copywriting skills and creative writing proficiency, a plus
Expertise in typography and information hierarchy
Experience with project management tools such as Monday.com, Dropbox, Asana, etc.
Excel in fast-paced environments and support multiple projects/team members
Technical understanding of studio, digital and production workflows.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to talk through design recommendations and decisions with a diverse range of people and diverse range of solutions.
Compensation And Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $100k-115k. This does not include bonus and other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position. Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
