We're on a mission to decarbonize the building industry, which contributes to 40% of global carbon emissions. cove.tool is seeking a Building Science Researcher III to join our innovative team.
This role focuses on our technical applications of building science to connect architects, manufacturers, and engineers in our groundbreaking platform. The work you do here will help save the planet by democratizing data driven design so people make better decisions about their buildings.
Responsibilities
Manage the development of detailed energy and carbon calculations for a wide range of architectural, structural and HVAC systems.
Use knowledge of sustainability, energy modeling, daylight modeling, etc. to provide technical guidance to a team of junior engineers and architects.
Ensuring accuracy of building simulations.
Collect and manage data sets from manufactures.
Work with software development team to integrate new functions into a web-based software platform.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
4+ years of previous experience in an architecture, engineering, or consulting firm.
Previous experience managing a team.
Proficiency in energy modeling software such as IES:VE, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio/EnergyPlus, TRACE700/3D Plus, and others.
A deep-seated passion for combating climate change and advancing sustainable design.
Not Required But Helpful
LEED Accreditation a plus
ASHRAE Certifications such as BEMP, BEAP a plus
PE, EIT, or AIA a plus

Familiarity with embodied carbon calculations through the use of Tally, OneClick LCA, analysis.tool, and others.
Familiarity with daylight modeling through Diva, ClimateStudio, LightStanza, cove.tool, and others.
Familiarity with Sketchup and/or Rhino + Grasshopper is a plus.
Experience in talking to clients and explaining technical things to others.
Basic coding skills is a plus but not required.
Passionate about sustainable design and technology.
Location
Hybrid work environment in Atlanta, GA.
Mon/Wed/Fri from home. Tue/Thu must be in-person for mentorship, collaboration, and training.
