Manager, Design & Construction - Snap Inc. (Los Angeles, CA)

The Workplace Experience team is looking for a Manger, Design & Construction to join Snap Inc! Working from our Santa Monica office, you’ll lead the project management, design and programming of our campus headquarters and other projects in North America. This role will partner closely with People, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Security, IT teams, as well as other key business leaders to deliver spaces that exemplifies Snap’s values: Kind, Smart and Creative.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the full design and construction lifecycle of a commercial office project from feasibility to handover

  • Overall manager of project from conceptual design, construction management, and project delivery, resulting in the opening of new Snap workplaces

  • Partner with the Workplace Operations team to seamlessly plan and deliver new office spaces, expansions and where required refurbishments of existing space

  • Ensure all sites within the prescribed portfolio are delivered to a high standard and are in compliance with local, global and regional policies and guidelines

  • Manage the development of capital budget planning, project variance tracking and reporting

  • Manage external consultants, contractors, architects, and  and vendors to ensure they deliver on time, within budget and are fully compliant with with health and safety legislation

  • Work with serviced office providers to customized fit-outs and broader design guidelines

  • Effectively partner and communicate with all key internal stakeholders such as IT, Security, Events and others throughout the project lifecycle

  • Manage dependencies, resources and scheduling constraints, and any issues across multiple projects

  • Carry out post project reviews to establish learnings and best practice to help evolve our design guidelines

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across all lines of business with the Workplace Experience organization.

  • Manage all aspects of Design and Construction process including Internal/external communication, coordination and collaboration with architectural firms, general contractors, furniture vendors and internal clients to produce space plan and build out space to solve overall scope of work of master plan including individual departmental requirements

  • Implement Value Engineering standards cost savings of capital funding per project 

  • High level of customer service including interaction and communication with senior level business unit management

  • Travel as needed to walk job-sites

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in programming, development of workplace design standards, construction and FF&E bid process

  • Proven track record of  implementation of Value Engineering for more efficient layout at lower cost per square feet and on schedule

  • Strong technical knowledge, required to facilitate the design construction process

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to present with internal, external stakeholders, and business leaders in the company

  • Ability to manage Capital Expense budgets and interact with Finance Business Partners for accurate reporting on budgets including actual costs and forecasts

  • Experience negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts

  • Ability to work well in fast-paced environment

  • Ability to sustain a large workload and manage multiple but simultaneous projects

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and drive projects where necessary without direction

  • Experience in construction/architectural background, vendor management, overseeing budget, and International Health and Safety Standards

  • Track record managing the delivery of large scale projects while balancing the delegation of tasks to the project team with diving deep into necessary details and tasks.  

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors or equivalent professional qualification

  • 10+ years of construction/architectural experience including project management experience or in a related field

  • Project management, construction and/or Architectural/ engineering experience with a proven track record of managing both new builds and the enhancement of existing workplaces

Preferred qualifications:

  • Degree in architecture or project management or related degree

  • History of managing the design and build of workplaces in multiple locations simultaneously

  • Proven track record of leading project teams distributed across multiple countries / cities

  • Passion for innovating the built environment

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $165,000-$230,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $157,000-$219,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-$196,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
