How we work with you.
We offer 3 main tracks for you to engage with us and get the support you need in your career progression.
1) One-on-One Career Consulting
1-on-1 consulting is how we started out, and it’s still the most personalized way to go. After matching with an advisor from our team, you’ll set goals, get the resources and tools you need to find a new role inside of or beyond your current career, and have all the support and guidance you need along the way.
2) Design Career Resources + Self-Guided Content
Whether it’s our Patreon content library, our free educational resources, or the Out of Architecture book, there’s a way for you to begin designing your new career path at your own pace. Start by listening to the Tangents podcast, signing up for our Patreon to peruse our recorded workshops and get our career worksheets, or check out the book to start your journey.
This service is for you if you’ve got a job offer in hand or are getting close to one. Our expert advisors will walk you through the ins and outs of negotiating your job offer so you can set a tone for the rest of your career.
3) Salary Negotiation
We’re here to help.
We create a customized package for each new client based on where you are in the search process and how deeply you’d like to engage with us.
All packages begin with a 30 minute consultation call where we can find out together how best we can help you.
Reduced rates are available for students, recent graduates, and other circumstances - please contact us directly for more information.
INTRO DISCOVERY CALL
$35
All our new connections start with an intro call with one of our advisors. We get to know you, your unique circumstances, and your needs. Intro calls are available for free for students and those in need. Please contact us for more information about reduced rates and free intro calls.
PERSONALIZED CAREER CONSULTING
ONBOARDING PACKAGE - $1000
Additional time beyond the Onboarding Package is
billed at $250/hr.
This is our core career coaching package. After meeting with us for your introductory call, this package will set you up for success toward your career goals.
The Career Consulting Package is a 3-month engagement covering the core work to help you progress in your transition. The fee covers 4 hours of work with you and your advisor, and is typically separated into 2 hours of calls (2-3 meetings) and 2 hours of asynchronous support. That time can be used for corresponding via email, answering questions, making introductions, supporting with role search, etc.
You will start with a 1 hour Onboarding call, then your advisor will likely suggest adjustments to this split based on your goals, events during your search and the most convenient ways of connecting.
Note: All calls are valid within a 3-month period of purchase.
We want everyone to get the most out of their next role. Salary negotiation is a must for almost any new offer and we help position your ask based on your unique value. Salary, bonuses, options packages, moving expenses, and other elements are discussed.
We only charge based on the increase in the offer, so you only pay for this service if we can help you get a better offer.
SALARY NEGOTIATION
15% OF NEGOTIATED INCREASE
WE OFFER A REDUCED RATE FOR STUDENTS & RECENT GRADUATES, AS WELL AS NEED-BASED INTRO CALLS FOR THOSE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP.
Ben Llewellyn, from architecture > concept designer
“Jake and Erin were crucial in helping me navigate the daunting world of environment/concept design. As an architect-turned-artist, I had struggled to find sustainable work that I could excel at.
Jake and Erin presented me with many tangible forms of support, including consultation, connections and help with salary negotiation.
I have found it very difficult to move from one industry to another, but these two helped me find great work at a competitive rate. I was constantly surprised at how often they checked in and reached out with assistance. A great reminder that sometimes it's best to not go alone and to work with the people around you.”
Ben Feicht, from architecture > exhibit designer
“I’m able to do more compelling and impactful work while being better compensated, so it's a good combination. It’s shocking how a museum exhibit designer can make so much more than a licensed architect. We settled at a 28% increase from my current salary, so I am happy with it. I hope to stay at this position for a long time and develop my skills using form making and digital media to tell stories and bring emotion to users.”
Skylar Kitchen, from architecture > web design
“Your advice has worked really well so far. My response rate has gone up to 50% and I have a few interviews lined up now. I just had a call with a tech recruiter a few minutes ago and I could tell that the way I present myself has improved.”
Yenny Hsieh, from architecture > sportswear designer
