Immersive 3D Designer - Deloitte (Multiple U.S. locations)

You will play an integral role within our fast-paced interdisciplinary team to design interactive, immersive and engaging solutions for clients.  Working with technical and creative leads, you will be responsible for bringing design continuity and expertise to all aspects of a project lifecycle. From supporting early concept exploration with visualizations, to creating final art assets for multiple platforms and devices, at various levels of fidelity. You should be prepared to interact with clients regularly, understanding their goals and determining the best approach to meet their needs.

What you'll do:

  • Work with stakeholders and design leads to understand project needs and translate them into objective-driven designs and 3D assets

  • Participate in client ideation sessions, create supporting visuals that communicate 3D visual direction for real-time experiences such as mixed realty (AR/VR) and immersive, computer-based applications

  • Explain 3D stylistic choices and 3D design principles to clients in a way that is meaningful and applicable to their given industry

  • Develop aesthetically pleasing and optimized 3D models that are technically accurate and/or stylized, while actively participating in technical and artistic problem solving

  • Work closely with a diverse team of designers (experience design, visual design) and engineers to iterate and implement assets in real-time engines

  • Work within an Agile methodology to support rapid prototypes and iterative builds throughout the design and development process

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, and basic animation (education/internships may be considered)

  • Experience Maya and the Unity game engine

  • Experience integrating and testing art assets in Unity

  • Experience lighting interior and exterior environments in Unity

  • Experience in level art (designing, building, and maintaining a complete Unity scene) and cohesive integration of 3D assets from multiple sources

  • Experience in high- and low-poly modeling, and asset optimization within real-time engine constraints

  • Experience working on a 3D asset from concept art through development, to polish and final delivery

  • Ability to work from concepts and images to produce accurate and consistent models

  • A portfolio that demonstrates well-rounded knowledge of 3D design principles and techniques, showing a variety of 3D environments, asset types, or styles; with an emphasis on optimized, real-time asset creation

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (CC)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong presentation and group collaboration skills

  • A self-motivated, problem-solving attitude

  • Ability to travel 20 - 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

  • DoD Secret-level clearance highly desirable; candidate must be able to achieve Secret security clearance

Bonus points

  • Understanding of the Unity development pipeline and/or Git version control tools

  • Experience implementing and optimizing models for XR applications

  • Experience in basic scripting

  • Experience with real-time visual effects, such as particle systems

  • Experience with the Substance Suite (Painter/Designer) and PBR material principles

  • Experience with character modeling (realistic or stylized), rigging, and animation

  • Additional skills in illustration and visual design, 3D rendering for video, and/or game design

  • Willingness to learn new things and teach others what you know

  • Desire to research and develop eminence in the area of 3D design

  • Belief that all things can be better
