Design Strategist - Microsoft (Multiple U.S. Locations)

Microsoft is seeking an experienced Design Strategist to join their team. The Design Strategist will partner closely with the product groups to both provide input and build differentiated experiences into our products. The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $126,900 and $190,400.

 Responsibilities


As a CX-UX Senior Design Strategist, you will contribute to the research and design objectives by:
Strategy
• The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable evangelist for Human Centered Design and the creative processes. They will be adept at helping business leaders see the connections between research, customer insights, and design solutions.
• Driving collaboration across feature teams and ensuring that the right people with the right knowledge and expertise are involved. Beginning to find ways to accomplish more by enabling others; managing and prioritizing workloads across multiple workstreams from concept to completion.
• Utilizing your expertise to delve deeply into problems, collaborate with subject matter experts internally, and work extensively with customers to find high impact solutions that transform the customer experience.
• Writing executive-level reports that clearly articulate the research insights, recommendations, and roadmaps.
• Being an excellent communicator and storyteller that can communicate complex concepts in a manner that excites and creates enthusiasm for the proposed future state experiences.
• Reviewing and validating work with peers, stakeholders, and users throughout the operating model processes, maintaining constant and open communication with key team members.

Research
• Envisioning and designing a future state “north star” experience based on your workshops and iterative designs.
• Planning and facilitating workshops with internal and external stakeholders to align with business needs.
• Identifying user/customer insights, needs, and recommend opportunities that span experiences, businesses, and technologies.
• Synthesizing multiple sources of complex data to form aggregate insights enabling idea finding, problem definition, and opportunity finding for a product/service.

Design
• Driving foundational design strategy for the team while partnering with product management and initiative owners to define moments of truth on behalf of the customer and users.
• Guide the design process to frame the problem and deliver holistic experiences from start to finish.
• Provide ongoing thought leadership around visual and experience design trends based on strong conceptual thinking, establish, and execute on compelling design directions.
• Facilitating synthesis and knowledge mapping sessions.
• Planning and facilitating workshops with internal and external stakeholders to align with business needs.
• Gather ongoing insights and learnings to continually improve upon work."

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design

    • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design

    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).

 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design

    • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design

    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).

  • 4+ years experience shipping games or products and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
