Virtual Experience Designer - Disney Parks (Anaheim, CA)

The Virtual Experience Designer is responsible for designing and supporting the execution of virtual experiences for our Cast and Employees. This position will work with multiple Program managers to identify and execute online solutions to enable Cast and Employees access to these offers around the Globe.

The role requires the ability to effectively coordinate, research and project plan complex, process solutions while partnering with multiple lines of business including communications, public relations, Diversity & Inclusion, marketing, IT, among others. Keen attention to detail, resourcefulness, self-starter/business owner mentality, and the ability to navigate through ambiguity are critical to this role. Due to the cross-site nature of this work, high degrees of collaboration are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of virtual engagement activities including large scale, high visibility virtual events often with a global focus in partnership with key stakeholders including Communications, Diversity and Inclusion, IT, and others

  • Identify possible solutions and work with the appropriate partners to enhance current technology that support our offerings (virtual maps of events, reservations, etc.)

  • Collaborate with program managers, communications, and other partners to maintain information and design standards on our internal Cast and Employee website.

  • Collaborate and consult with key partners across multiple business units and segment-wide sites to deliver upon key projects.

  • Design and create assets that support events and experiences, like pitch decks, Snapchat filters, and mass communication/messaging.

  • Utilized as a primary point of contact for multiple program managers to support projects as determined by department leadership.

  • Partner with Legal, Communications, Employee Relations, HR and department leadership to gain appropriate approvals for future process resources (including new technology) and virtual events.

  • Regularly engage with multiple Business Employee Resource Groups to propel this work, helping to drive a culture with a focus on diversity and inclusion

  • Research external trends and prepare recommendations for department leadership

  • Track expenses and manage budget associated with all new projects and redesigns.

  • Handle all administrative needs required to deliver upon key projects

  • Prepare detailed event briefs and executive summaries as appropriate

  • Other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for technology or technological advancement

  • Experience with visual style website builders, preferably WordPress

  • Familiarity with basic web design, including best practices, design patterns, and accessibility considerations

  • Experience leading large projects with multiple stakeholders and proactively driving deadlines

  • Experience offering creative solutions that must work within a complex organization

  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships and fostering collaborative environments

  • Experience researching and acquiring relevant trend data using multiple sources

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Ability to create clarity when information is absent and possibly may remain absent

  • Ability to produce work independently

  • High proficiency using Microsoft Office products inclusive of Teams, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • High proficiency using G-Suite

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, or other design packages

  • Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail, with an eagle eye for catching errors, typos, mistakes, and broken links

  • Basic visual communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience influencing and leading cross-segment work in a highly matrixed organization

  • Experience with visual style website builders, preferably WordPress

  • Knowledge of web design and prototyping tools, such as Sketch and Adobe XD

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and logistics

  • Proficiency in both Mac and PC

  • Demonstrated passion for diversity and inclusion as well as a positive Cast Experience

  • Experience with budgets

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related fields.
