CAD Designer, Seasonal - Walt Disney Parks (Kissimmee, FL)
The CAD Designer with Disney Live Entertainment (DLE) synthesize technical design intent for events, theatrical shows, and parades that delight guests at Disney Parks and Resorts around the world. Whether developing new shows or sustaining our existing offerings, DLE CAD Designers create the drawing packages, models, and visualization resources that bring our shows to life.

In this role you will translate ideas and sketches through 3d CAD/BIM Software into documentation and models used by our partners to produce a variety of themed entertainment offerings. This job is highly collaborative, with CAD Designers constantly acting as information conduits to the larger design team. Your design work may support scopes as small as one-day events and as large as decade spanning venues. To ensure the success of each DLE offering you will be expected to lead design reviews, document markups, and model coordination efforts on your projects.
Responsibilities :
Generate 2D and 3D design elements using Autodesk Revit and other BIM software. Elements include but are not limited to plans, detail views, 3D renders, and solid models
Learn and follow visual standards for Disney Live Entertainment in coordination with other Walt Disney Company business units
Assess creative direction to identify scope of drafting needs and visualization functions
Forecast the time each task will take you to complete while remaining mindful of available funding limits
Provide conceptual design support to Directors, Producers and other Designers
Organize and maintain a standardized design package for all discipline specific design documentation and drawings
Ensure design presentation fidelity by developing and applying appropriate visual materials to model elements
Provide model support during pre-visualization and programming phases
Assist each design discipline in creating As-Installed documentation
Stay current with industry computer graphics visualization software and technology
Maintain show documentation, model archives, and other shared resources for reuse by the larger team
Participate in the delivery of design intent documents that result in a realized design for our guests
Serve as a subject matter expert for other disciplines with regard to standards, and coordinated model reviews
Basic Qualifications :
College degree or equivalent experience in Theatrical or Architectural disciplines
Experience drafting schematics, floor plans, three-dimensional models in Autodesk Revit Minimum of 2 years of Experience in the Entertainment Industry working in show development or operation of live shows
Experience in Themed design utilizing Autodesk Revit.
Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Computer Aided Design
Ability to Integrate of design intent data from various platforms (2d and 3d)
Understanding of coordinated models
Ability to translate 3d models to 2d design intent drawings
Working knowledge of current technology and industry standards for a wide variety of theatrical design (audio, video, broadcast, effects, lighting, and control systems, scenery and facilities construction methodology) as applied to live show and facility systems (theatrical, industrial, concert, touring, etc.)
Ability to organize and delegate tasks to partners with limited project knowledge
Understanding of the design development process
Proven ability to generate schematic design documentation in a fast-paced environment
Ability to deliver an established scope on schedule and within budget
Excellent verbal and visual communication skills with the ability to express creative ideas and problem solve
Ability to work flexible hours - nights, weekends, holidays - including occasional travel
General computer skills including basic Microsoft Office products and industry specific software
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with Rhino
Familiarity with Point Cloud Data and Data Meshing
Experience with Theme Park design
Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4
Required Education :
College degree or equivalent experience in Theatrical, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering discipline
Preferred Education :
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Theatrical, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering discipline
