Design for Sustainability Leader - Rockwell Automation (Remote in some U.S. states)

You will work with a core team to develop the strategy and programs for product design for sustainability excellence with the intent to reduce the company’s impact on the environment through consideration for climate action and the circular economy.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead with the development and documentation of the product design for sustainability strategy including vision of success, key attributes and measurement, prioritization, education, and implementation.

  • Engage with stakeholders and cross function team to drive education, alignment, and action plans.

  • Work with multidisciplinary project teams across the company to align design for sustainability program to support the broader Carbon Scope 3 net zero strategy.

  • Manage design for sustainability roadmap milestones to deliver on time and on budget to the assigned projects and ultimately integrates into product development deliverables, business, and financial reviews.

  • Develop deep understanding of sustainability trends, competitive landscape, and internal stakeholders, to inform messaging and positioning.

  • Create and deliver compelling stories by clearly articulating the value delivered and outcomes achieved.

  • Source and structure data that may not be readily available.

  • Demonstrate capability to work on multiple types of projects at any one time.  Manage with different target audiences and drivers.  Work with cross-business and cross-regional teams to leverage expertise where is it available to get the job done.

  • Collaborate and coordinate closely with the product business groups, legal, integrated supply chain, as well as the sales and marketing organizations. Work effectively with regions to develop programs that meet global needs. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering field, from an accredited institution.

  • Rockwell Automation will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States. This is not a position for which sponsorship will be provided. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years’ experience in product development, sustainability, or product environmental programs, preferably in electronics industry.

  • A high level of enthusiasm, creativity, self-motivation, resourcefulness, and effectiveness as a team player.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and defining program strategies including vision of success.

  • Strong project management, interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills; ability to sell ideas and present strategies to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, initiative, and creativity and proven track record for innovation.

  • Have good problem-solving skills and be able to gather and analyze information and as necessary, help develop appropriate options and actions.

  • Builds effective teams committed to organizational goals; fosters collaboration among team members and among teams; uses teams to address relevant issues.

  • Values and supports diversity in the workplace.

  • Ability to take complex topics and provide succinct, simplified messaging.

  • Strong project management skills with experience gaining consensus and driving deliverables with individuals inside the organization. 

  • Capacity to function in a highly matrixed organization. 

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of time, potentially internationally.
