Senior Environmental Graphic Designer - EYP (Atlanta, GA)

EYP is seeking a Senior Environmental /Experiential Graphic Designer to lead the design and development of multiple projects and a variety of deliverables, for a range of clients, industries and building types. Responsibilities will involve design strategy and concept development, executing work as well as directing support staff in refining and producing documents from concept through completion. Responsibilities also may include proposal development, presenting to clients, and interfacing with consultants and vendors.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain strong understanding of client needs and objectives including their business, vision, goals,
    brand guidelines and design standards

  • Confer with Environmental Graphic Design Studio leadership and staff to gain understanding of internal expectations regarding design process, quality standards, and high client service

  • Deliver appropriate and thoughtful solutions for clients in a diverse range of markets, fostering
    innovation where appropriate

  • Conduct research and site visits, review campus, site and/or facility drawings, renderings and other documents to understand existing conditions and determine effective wayfinding and signage solutions

  • Prepare, plan, and design a variety of two and three-dimensional graphics, logos, maps and signs that identify, direct, inform, interpret and visually enhance the environment using design processes common to the environmental graphic design industry

  • Review layouts and proofread materials to ensure accuracy, design effectiveness, compliance with zoning requirements and existing standards if applicable

  • Create informative, inspiring and convincing client presentations that communicate a holistic design strategy

  • Present design work to clients and manage client feedback

  • Through high quality ideas, services and delivery, create and maintain effective client relationships

  Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Graphic Design or related field

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge and skill in graphic design and layout

  • Strong conceptual ideation and collaborative brainstorming abilities

  • Understanding of the environmental graphic design process and documentation standards from initial concepts through implementation, with the ability to translate design goals into a visual communication solution

  • Ability to design within established graphic standards, if applicable, or to develop semi-custom or custom solutions

  • Knowledge of typography and font styles, and a working knowledge of legibility guidelines, standards development, materials, substrates, production and signage fabrication methods

  • Ability to read architectural construction documents and shop drawings, coordinate with engineers
    for structural, mechanical, electrical or data interface, as may be required

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to prioritize and concurrently service multiple projects in a fast-paced working environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, without compromising accuracy, striving to design within the constraints of schedule and budget

  • Flexibility to work both collaboratively and independently on projects of all scales and types

  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects, large and small, with limited design direction, while mentoring more junior designers

  • Software Proficiency or expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and CAD tools), SketchUp, Rhino or other 3D visualization programs, REVIT or other BIM software, Corel, HTML/web knowledge or other computer-generated sign-making/graphics programs
