You will use concept sketches, 3D design software, prototyping skills, engineering knowledge, and hands on experience to design, refine and carefully document part and tool designs. We expect this person to be an expert 3D design engineer who can ideate, innovate and manage the development of complex product systems through collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

A Day In The Life

  • You demonstrate passion for advanced innovation, product creation, and manufacturing.

  • You have advanced 3D modeling skills allowing you to utilize multiple software tools to manipulate and perfect complex surfaces.

  • Depending on the visualization, rendering, and prototyping needs, you will create 3D surface modeling, solid modeling, generative design, and sculpting.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain virtual 3D material, product, and last library.

  • Correlate and optimize simulations to actual product reliability results.

  • Clearly communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences and at all levels within the organization.

  • Think both analytically and creatively with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Research new materials, manufacturing technologies, and design methodologies.

  • Collaborate with Design and Development to ensure input into the critical phases of the development process meets agreed upon requirements for correctness and completeness of information and allows an optimized use of information for tech pack creation.

  • Thrive in an environment with ambiguity and changes in priorities.

  • As a member of a small team, you have the ability to "wear multiple hats" in order to solve problems across the category and office environment.

Qualifications

  1. BS Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  2. 1-4 years' experience in 3D Design or 3D Engineering.

  3. Strong understanding in 3D modeling, Rendering, and UV mapping experience, including, but not limited to - Rhino, Maya, ZBrush, Gravity Sketch VR, Substance3D Suite C4D, Fusion 360, CLO3D, Redshift, Keyshot, Unreal Engine).

  4. Experience with modeling advanced drop simulations and non-linear FEA analysis.

  5. A wide knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing methodology.

  6. Experience with creating digital materials from material swatches.

  7. Experience correlating and optimizing simulation to test data results.

  8. A demonstrated portfolio of work, with clear examples of engineering designs and problem-solving ability.

  9. Experience with computational and/or generative design.

  10. Knowledge of plastic and foam part and tooling design.

  11. Experience with coding languages including, but not limited to: C, C++, Pyton, R, MATLAB.

  12. Excellent multi-tasking and organization skills.

  13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail.

  14. Travel 10% of the time.
