The Innovation Director (ID) position is a hybrid full-time position (8:00 am to 4.30 pm with 30 minutes for lunch). The ID will lead strategy and execution for all innovation projects. This includes troubleshooting school hydroponic programs, implementing pilot programs, conducting hydroponic system research & development testing, and delivering programming to HydroHealth locations. The ideal candidate for this position will be innovative, highly organized, and a great communicator (both orally and in writing).
Responsibilities
Work with team members to create and track quarterly team goals.
Develop, grow, and expand a Hydroponics program for the corporate and community arena.
Collaborate with the VP of Operations to create an Innovation team scorecard.
Create training plans/schedules and train new employees.
Provide leadership, management, and accountability to the Innovations team.
Lead weekly meetings with the Innovations team to review team performance, discuss challenges and brainstorm ideas on how to improve pilot programming.
Support the Education & Engagement Coach team with remote troubleshooting for school hydroponic systems as needed.
Provide onsite support to HydroConnect Community programs & high school hydro farms as needed.
Purchase systems & supplies for all hydroponics programming.
Conduct hydroponic system research & development with the Innovation team.
Create a success strategy for and execute the HydroHealth program. Deliver services to HydroHealth locations per current service contract.
Collaborate with the VP of Operations to design and execute pilot programs.
Collaborate with the Data & Impact team to evaluate and analyze survey data to improve pilot programs.
Attend in-person events (this is a Las Vegas, NV. based position), averaging 1 day (8 hours) a month, some on weekends. Work hours will be shifted to maintain no more than 40 hours a week.
Provide as needed assistance to other Green Our Planet departments for various tasks, problems, and new initiatives.
General Director Responsibilities: As a Director of GoP, you will also be responsible for accomplishing department objectives (Rocks) by managing and Leading staff; planning and evaluating department activities; maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; ensuring a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities; accomplishing staff results by communicating program goals, job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as needed and lastly assisting in the creation and maintenance of the department budget. Qualifications
Passionate about Green Our Planet’s mission and be able to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission, and values of Green Our Planet
Experience in the Entrepreneurial field from concept to completion
BA or BS in education, STEM, horticulture, or a related field OR equivalent experience
At least three years of verifiable management/Leadership experience in a transferable skills field
Project Management Skills: Able to manage and complete projects on time and to deadlines
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and balance day-to-day tasks with strategic, long-term goals and timelines
Dynamic Work Environments: able to manage multiple projects, ability to work with staff in a remote environment efficiently
Adaptable: Able to take on new projects as funding provides
Results-orientation: Have a track record of achievement and a bias for producing results (rather than getting immersed in process), perseveres despite obstacles
Horticulture, hydroponics or botany experience a plus
Research skills: has experience researching topics on-line and via phone and in person
Candidate must be able to pass a CCSD background check, if applicable
You are proficient in Google Suite and other common platforms (web browsers, Canvas, Trello, CRM’s, database management.)
Problem Solving and Decision Making: Ability to apply knowledge, experience, creativity, and critical thinking in solving challenges; can look beyond the obvious for answers; can use sound judgment to make well-informed decisions
You are meticulous and highly organized. You have the ability to comfortably manage multiple projects at a time, while staying on deadline and sustaining quality of work; reliable and punctual
You are able to present ideas/proposals both verbally, visually, and written form to Leadership and vendors.
Salary - $70,000/year
