Exhibition Design Producer - Ideum (Corrales, NM)

The Position

Producer in exhibition design is an in-person position in the Project Management and Producer group at Ideum. The Producer in this role oversees exhibition projects and is also the primary supervisor of Exhibit Design staff who may report on a project basis to other Producers. A Producer will have proven to be both a highly skilled project manager and an excellent manager of employees and departments. 

The position pays $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.

The Producer is expected to have a broad and deep understanding of trends and new developments in our industry, including the range of exhibit development approaches for different types of clients, exhibit design and production processes and tools, as well as key hardware and software products and processes. 

In addition to managing projects and overseeing the Exhibit Design Work Area, the Producer in Exhibition Design is also charged with helping staff grow at Ideum. The Producer must demonstrate high emotional intelligence, superior listening skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and have a vested interest in helping the teams in Creative Services reach their highest potential. 

Core Requirements and Duties:

  • Effectively manage complex projects that include multiple exhibits, large teams, and external collaborators

  • Participate in Ideum’s business development process of writing proposals and obtaining and delivering quotes in conjunction with other key departments, including Sales, Media Systems, UI Design, Software, Workshop, and the Fabrication Studio

  • Anticipate, alert Leadership, and respond to staff needs, bottlenecks, and deadline-threatening events across CS and Ideum

  • Steadiness and dependability when complex projects with many stakeholders are facing challenges

  • Investigation and sharing of trends and developments in key fields, such as museum exhibitions, accessibility, and interactive technologies

  • Participate in staff reviews and make recommendations for promotions, raises, and disciplinary action

  • Active participation in and development of opportunities to share Ideum’s breadth and expertise with local and national individuals and professional peer groups involved in museum design, interpretive planning, education, technology, and appropriate STEAM and other communities

  • Actively engage with and mentor Producers and Exhibit Designers 

  • Serve as a liaison between staff and company management

  • Participate in the leadership group that guides Ideum’s strategic initiatives

  • Travel to museums and other client destinations to work with staff at those locations, assess site conditions, review work in production, and oversee the implementation, installation, or commissioning of exhibits

  • At a minimum, conversant in environmental and graphic design

  • Planning of exhibits for durability and ease of maintenance

  • Ability to create as well as read exhibit floorplans and elevations and to provide quality control on similar work products

  • Experience with traveling exhibits

  • Able to create exciting, accurate, and innovative proposals

  • Leadership of client-facing interpretive planning and/or exhibit design workshops

  • Maintain positive client relationships

  • Experience producing exhibits at a wide range of price points

  • Efficient time management of self and others

  • Maintain positive staff relationships

  • Produce objectives for all Exhibit Design staff professional development

  • Understanding of Experience design that is innovative, intuitive, aesthetic, accessible, and has purpose

Job Details and Benefits

The position pays $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.

This job is onsite at our offices in Corrales, NM. (Please note we will not accept remote candidates, we are an experience design firm and you need to be present.) 

After 90 days of employment, this position includes paid time off, health, dental, and vision insurance, critical illness and accident insurance, life insurance, and short-term/long-term disability. Employees are eligible after one year of employment for our 401K Safe Harbor Profit Sharing Plan.
