About this Position:

In this role, we're looking for a sustainability all-star with direct experience supporting sustainability initiatives in the built environment. The Senior PM will support Parallel’s clients as their contracted sustainability staff and/or team to help them achieve their sustainability goals, expand their business opportunities through sustainability, and reduce their environmental, human health, and social health impact. The Senior PM will be responsible for executing the Client’s ‘Sustainability Action Plan’ (e.g., manage and delivery quality technical, marketing, and/or strategic tasks), maintaining and expanding the client relationship(s), and managing their assigned Parallel project team, all within project budget.

We are looking for an experienced project manager who is organized, flexible, passionate, and a team player with prior knowledge of sustainability in the built environment. This person should already be familiar with various sustainability ecolabels/standards (e.g., HPDs, Declare Labels, C2C, LCA/EPDs, etc.), carbon reporting (scope 1, 2, and 3), SBTi, circular economy, mindful MATERIALs, etc. While Parallel’s client-base is primarily building product manufacturers, this role should have a basic understanding of sustainability also from the end user’s perspective (e.g., architects and designers, general contractors, building owners, etc.).


Work Responsibilities can include:

  • Leading client relationships. This is a client-facing position and will require relationship building skills, project management skills, and high-level strategic thinking.

  • Position is expected to connect the clients’ current and future needs with the execution and delivery of client work, and with marketing and sales opportunities for the client.

  • Support various clients through development and execution of a sustainability action plan(s), which can include but is not limited to:

  • Supporting client in navigating, implementing, and leveraging global and corporate (internal) sustainability programs and initiatives

  • Participating in industry events on behalf of, or as a representative, of the clients

  • Participating in (and supporting on) internal initiatives like sales meetings, strategy meetings, etc.

  • Supporting or coaching client in the evolution of their sustainability programs to support a return on investment while also reducing their impact

  • Synthesizing and translating complex information into clear, informative, and compelling communication materials for diverse audiences using different mediums (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

  • Connecting sustainability initiatives to external marketing and sales programs, helping the client tell their story to support sales opportunities and build brand awareness in the marketplace

  • Collaborate with Parallel’s marketing service team to develop marketing and messaging collateral or strategy development for the client.

  • Collaborate with Parallel’s technical service team to develop various data and reporting materials that support client certification and reporting goals like green building requests, SBTi, ecolabel/standard, supply chain data management, etc.


The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work across cross functional teams

  • Excellent communication skills

  • An ability to be accountable for specific account management, while also able to work within larger teams

  • 5+ Years of manufacturing, engineering, and/or sustainability experience

  • 5+ Years in the built environment which includes skills like:

  • Experience supporting the completion of various product level certifications (Declare, HPD, LCA/EPD, etc.)

  • Corporate sustainability/ESG frameworks like SBTi, CDP, CSRD, among many others.

  • Knowledge of LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge and how various products can support achieving these rating systems

  • Experience working in various tools & systems to automate supply chain, product level data and corporate wide sustainability reporting

Job Location and Travel Requirements:

Remote Position. Travel for events and clients will occur on as needed basis, one must be willing and able to travel occasionally for this position. As we value a balance between a remote culture, and ensuring we build relationships within our team, two times a year, in-person team meetings will be required. Travel for these in person meetings requires team members to be away a week at a time. We work across time zones (mainly in the US, but occasionally globally). A East Coast or Central Time Zone location is preferred but not required. Mandatory company working hours are 10AM to 3pm ET, otherwise flexible.
