Who we are looking for
The Nike Direct North America Store Development Team seek a Construction/Design Program Manager who will actively manage a pipeline of projects with a broader team of external contributors from real estate, design and concept development – complete through project execution by translating innovative designs and retail concepts into reality!
We need an individual with demonstrated technical knowledge of retail store development, design, budget & scope management, shown success implementing and succeeding against a portfolio of projects and enjoys collaborating to problem solve to Win as a Team. The ideal candidate brings a successful track record of working closely with internal and external cross functional teams, external consultants, contractors and vendors.
We seek a candidate who will be responsible for:
Evaluating Store Concepts to articulate scope, align across functions and handoff to design consultants and/or internal design teams to support store growth and reinvestment
Actively managing a pipeline and intake process across partner functions like real estate, concept and design for our current portfolio of stores as well as new opportunities across the NA marketplace
Assist in Due Diligence activities by evaluating sites through test fits and critical design elements to support work letter negotiations
Design Budget Management - Overall ownership of consultant and professional services budgets within store development to ensure projects are developed and managed within targeted budget.
Schedule Development - Overall ownership of design consultant project schedule to ensure projects are delivered on time for full portfolio of annual pipeline
Design Process and Preconstruction Management – collaborate with internal Nike design team, internal partners and external consultants to established required deliverables, schedule parameters and track resolution of outstanding issues for the full life-cycle as it relates to the development of stores
Contract Management and Documentation – lead teams in the contract scope development, review and award management
Vendor Management – Establishing partnerships specific to owner vendors including architectural design and engineering consultants
Constructability Review – lead Nike Construction and Design teams to resolve overall constructibility, design efficiencies and faithfulness to best-in-class processes
Product Procurement – procure long - lead and specialty items with a portfolio of national vendors and internal partners to develop RFP documents, procurement schedules and lead communication with vendors and adherence to dates
Department/Program Management – provide leadership and accountability of the success of project budgets, contracts and vendor partnerships and associated schedules
Sustainability - Responsibility for executing against LEED program and other sustainability initiatives
Cross functional collaboration to ensure turnover to Construction, Facilities and Operations are successful
Vendor Accountability – Drive accountability across architectural and engineering consultants by redlining drawings and providing total cost of ownership analysis
You'll also support strategy for the following:
Support and partner with the Sr. Director(s) to adapt, extend and execute the store design vision and strategy across the Nike stores portfolio
Lead a design process of clear ideation focusing on exploration of consumer journey, space, materiality, texture, proportion, scale and overall use of the environment
Ensure project goals and priorities align with Nike retail brand and business strategies
Design development and generating implementation standards for consistent execution throughout projects
Pipeline review of portfolio of projects
High-level review of project schedule and pipeline reporting
Procurement strategy development
Sustainability initiative implementation
Proactive meeting coordination to address issues/planning in advance
Program and further tool development
Who You Will Work With
You will be working collaboratively with a team made up of cross functional partners from Real Estate and Store Construction, Facilities, Lease Administration, Retail Design, Loss Prevention, IT/tech and Store Opening teams, and act as the subject matter authority on your portfolio of construction projects!
You will also work closely with general contractors, external consultant teams and project managers to ensure project planning is on schedule and on budget.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree or higher or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
Professional accreditation(s) – ex. LEED AP, PMP, etc.is preferred
5+ years of demonstrated ability in construction related project and program management preferred
Experience in retail construction, fluency with architectural drawings, key trade works, construction terminology and contract terms and types is a plus
Experience with varied retail stores and store rollouts is also a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Plangrid/Procore or similar, Smartsheets and/or other construction project management budget and scheduling platforms
Supervisory experience specifically leading consultant project teams directly
Project management / program management experience required
Scope and Contract management including bidding and negotiating with contractors and vendors
Ability to build a strategic department plan, schedule and budget
Ability to problem solve, identify ownership and track progress against organizational goals
