As the Store Designer, you will be leading and supporting the design development of the Starbucks store design, upholding the brand standard, creating an outstanding partners’ and the customers’ experience. The Store Design will collaborate closely with the internal partners to ensure exceptional design and inclusive of all phases of design from schematic through construction documents and the construction administration while honoring the project budget, schedule, and operational requirements.
Pay
$88,400 - $132,800 annually
As a Store Designer, you will…
Inspire and influence others by design – you will execute design implementation of Starbucks stores. Provides clear, effective and timely communication of design direction and changes to internal designers and external consultants. Identify and overcome barriers, propose and implements design solutions.
Be a team player - Contributes to studio team goals by achieving target deliverables on number of stores and meeting all established deadlines.
Business acumen - Designs stores within parameters of individual store budgets and market requirements with alignment from cross-functional teams
Detail oriented - Develops design documentation to support design intent per regional guidelines including schematic drawings and finish palettes.
Own your projects - Manages the production of construction documents by internal and external designers and consultants. Responsible for the integrity and quality of the construction documents inclusive of design intent, detailing, code requirements, scheduling and MEPs.
Contribute - Participates in the architectural design process by reviewing and analyzing project documentation.
Focused - Sets schedules with alignment from cross-functional teams. Communicates dates to project team and meets all established deadlines. Conducts site visits as needed.
Collaborate - Participates in schematic reviews with cross-functional teams.
Be a servant leader - Mentors other more junior designers.
We’d love to hear from people with:
Experience with CAD drafting using Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape and Sketchup software 5-7 years
Has project management experience and understands processes and critical path 1 year
Has experience in retail, hospitality or restaurant design or development organization including management of construction documents 5-7 years
Has experience managing external architectural and/or design consultants 5-7 years
Has experience and exlce in managing workload and project schedule
Bachelors degree required in related field
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and restaurant design including furniture and finishes
Current working knowledge of building and health codes and compliance issues
Demonstrated 3D visualization ability and working knowledge of color and design principles
Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments
Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines
Ability to communicate design with hand sketches/drawings
Skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design issues
Ability to translate stated design principles / objectives into unique and varied store locations
Knowledge of architectural details and specifications for construction document production
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Organizational skills; attention to detail
Ability to multi-task
Strong problem-solving and decision making skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
