What you will do

  • Lead Interior Design at Pacaso; develop department vision and strategy, build roadmap, and translate company ethos into the built environment by developing creative vision, brand standards, and differentiation 

  • Oversee design production, including capacity planning, SLA management, and cross-functional collaboration with Acquisitions, Finance, and Operations; develop strategies that accelerate growth while increasing design quality and operational efficiency

  • Build and lead a world-class design team; develop organizational structure, source and hire the best, establish culture of collaboration and excellence, and provide ongoing mentorship and leadership

  • Develop expansion strategy into new markets and global regions; work closely with VP of Operations and cross-functional partners to mitigate risks

  • Partner with Director of Procurement to manage P&L for Design and Procurement business unit; establish targets and drive profitability

  • Manage team staffing across all design projects, including projects that you individually design from A - Z; move seamlessly between supporting the team to hitting your own timelines and targets

  • Identify and lead new revenue opportunities, including shoppable homes, proprietary FF&E lines / product development, and design services

  • Establish KPIs and additional design success metrics; work closely with Operations, Data, and Product to build the systems and infrastructure needed to track metrics, drive accountability, and improve continuously

  • Lead cross-functional, strategic initiatives that enable Design to scale globally; initiatives will touch on supply chain, strategic partnerships, creative staffing solutions, new design technologies, and more

  • Work closely with Procurement, Sourcing, and Logistics to define criteria for FFE / OSE, identify sources, and build successful partnerships

  • Collaborate with Marketing on content that drives brand recognition and value; serve as external face of Design for Pacaso at conferences, trade fairs, exhibitions, and design weeks

  • Compensation is around $180k with a stock package

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Interiors or Architecture (NCIDQ / CID preferred)

  • 12+ years of professional experience with a focus on high-end residential and/or hospitality; growth-stage startup experience preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing large, global teams comprised of full-time employees, contractors, and consultants; Director-level experience required

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; experience in cross-functional
    stakeholder management and comfort working with senior leadership

  • Strong creative vision and experience developing brand standards

  • Experience with all phases of design, including concept development, schematics, design development, and construction documentation

  • Outstanding design presentation skills; demonstrated ability to articulate compelling design narratives via images and words

  • Experience managing department budget, resourcing, and capacity planning, with ability to articulate ROI on investments

  • Big picture, systems thinker, with experience setting strategy, managing roadmaps, and driving execution and continuous improvement

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a highly ambiguous, fast-paced environment 

  • Extensive knowledge of furniture, architecture, and current design trends, as well as FF&E vendors and custom solutions for high-end residential and hospitality projects; global sourcing and product development experience required

  • Proficiency in Revit and Autocad required

  • Proficiency in modeling software including SketchUp Pro, Rhino and V-ray preferred; Hand-sketching skills a plus

  • Knowledge of Houzz, Studio Designer, Spexx, or equivalent spec writing software a plus

  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat,
    Illustrator) and G-Suite programs (including Slides, Sheets, and Docs) required;
    proficiency in Excel a plus

  • Familiarity with project management software including Procore, Smartsheets, MS Project, and TeamGantt preferred; familiarity with design tools including Holobuilder and Bluebeam a plus
