Description:

The Exhibition Designer is responsible for establishing and implementing the overall environment for temporary exhibitions and displays for the Museum, including all 3D concept sketches, color renderings, final digital renderings, construction documentation, lighting design, and multimedia direction.. The Exhibition Designer will create and maintain schedules for the design phases of exhibition planning, creates agendas for and runs all design meetings for exhibitions.

This position will establish and maintain relationships with outside vendors and independent contractors, liaise with collections managers, curators, content experts, preparators, conservators, registrars, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communications throughout the process. This position, along with the Interpretive Planner, will establish and maintain the budgets for exhibition projects, and will be required to mentor undergraduate and graduate students on a regular basis.

Salary Range or Wage:

80000 - 100000 USD Yearly

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Exhibition, Theatrical, Industrial, or other fine arts field, Masters preferred, and 3-5 years experience creating museum exhibitions is required. Experience in working with material culture and objects is preferred. Demonstrated ability to design two and three dimensional exhibition elements is essential, as is the ability to work in highly collaborative, team-based situations. Proven clear communication efficiencies is required.

Ability to work in multiple platforms, including Vectorworks, Sketch Up, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Filemaker Pro, and collections database software, as well as project management software such as Box, Basekamp, and Fast Track scheduling is required. A working knowledge of materials and production methods used to create environments is needed. Strong copy editing skills, and experience working with students are a plus.
