Sr. BIM Engineer - Tesla (Austin, TX)

What to Expect

Our Factory Engineering Team is looking to hire an experienced BIM Engineer. This person will be directly responsible for coordinating with various disciplines within the company to manage the BIM model and various applications of BIM for the Giga Texas project in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large, complex projects and can multi-task and collaborate technically with several disciplines. 

What You’ll Do

  • The Senior BIM Engineer is expected to manage and support the development of a data rich and accurate BIM model

  • The Senior BIM engineer will set the course for the digital delivery of large and fast-paced projects, working with multi-discipline leads and executive management and will support efforts from planning and conceptual effort through construction, commissioning and hand-over to the Operations teams

  • Responsible for setup and management, troubleshooting and training of Autodesk Construction Cloud platforms and design authoring applications

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining project BIM standards document.

  • Responsible for proper set up and maintenance and management of large, federated building models involving 8-10 design and engineering disciplines or more. Projects are typically cloud-hosted and span across multiple internal and external design teams in different geographies and time zones

  • Directly responsible for authoring applications’ content management. Develop custom parametric content for Revit for various design disciplines. Improvise workflows to enhance efficiency.

  • Directly responsible for the coordination of the design produced by the Engineering Team, Trade Contractors, and other third-party vendors under their direction.

  • Responsible for integrating with Tesla Project Controls, Commissioning and Facilities Management teams to incorporate data required for their workflows into BIM in a consistent and scalable format

  • Scope of responsibility will include overall accuracy & completeness of the models, physical & operational spatial coordination, timely implementation of design or clash resolution of any issues, and data integrations for other disciplines according to an aggressive schedule

  • Introduce, support, and oversee the implementation of industry leading BIM technology, this position will be part of a team that is expected to help develop, introduce, support, and oversee the implementation of industry leading BIM technologies, including those developed exclusively by/for the Tesla company

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working with Engineering and Project Management teams on high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)

  • Proven expertise in Revit, Navisworks and reality capture applications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, IFC, data interoperability and general awareness of other BIM and parametric design applications

  • Experience with coding, visual programming (C#, Python, Dynamo), and database integrations are preferred

  • Experience interfacing with construction and cost control on quantity takeoffs and alignment between Work Breakdown Structure based cost tracking using BIM parameters

  • Experience working with facility management teams in utilizing BIM for facility operations
