Overview

Canoo’s Design Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Architectural Designer (Level 3 or Senior). The primary responsibility of this role is to develop architectural concepts and new standards for future branded experiences (i.e. factory, tradeshow, retail and service) as well as manage architectural consultants. Reporting to the Creative Director of Branding, the person in this role will support the design department's objective to continue branded experiences through environmental manifestations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (80s of the Position) 

  • Specializing in workplace, retail, and tradeshow environments for an automotive startup

  • Conceptual architectural design at all scales starting from mood reference to fleshed-out concepts.

  • Research on prior, existing, and future interior spatial typologies

  • Imagining the physical existence of a brand experience from the ground-up

  • Working with and presenting spatial concepts to a group of talented designers (vehicle, digital product, brand)

  • Develop chosen conceptual interior design from Schematic Design to Design Development phases and ensure idea/theme/quality is carried through to Construction Documents and Construction Administration phases.

  • Project Management internally and externally (Architect of Record and sub-consultants)

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture or equivalent

  • 8-10 years of experience in combination of architectural design and project management

  • Ability to quickly iterate ideas and formulate into well-thought-out themes (concept development)

  • High knowledge in 3D software (Rhino, Maya or equivalent)

  • Ability to create semi-real renderings and animations (Vray, Keyshot or equivalent)

  • Adobe Creative Suite Knowledge (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, After Effects)

  • Ability to create Diagrams and Floor Plans (AutoCAD)

  • Ability to read architectural and sub-consultant drawings

  • Cool attitude and positive vibes

Preferred Experience:

  • Interest in supporting adjacent items within brand design including graphic design, design strategy, digital product and brand marketing

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 50% travel (mostly domestic)

Physical Requirements:  

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bending or stooping, lifting up to 10 pounds, and prolonged periods of computer use.
