Ford Design – Technical Operations turns design vision into reality with an obsession to detail and the art of the possible. As an integral part of Ford Global Design, we deliver theme feasibility, surface geometry, and production-launch appearance quality.

Digital Configuration Specialist create high-quality detailed visualization models for Design reviews. Working cross-functionally with Class A surfacing, Design creative, and Color & Materials designer, they are able to make dynamic, precise models that allow the broader Ford Design team to see the design vision in high resolution on a monitor, large power wall, or in VR.

Digital Configuration Specialists are an integral part of the Ford Design studio. They create material and geometrically accurate vehicle models in VRED for Design creative and technical reviews for working team members, group reviews, or executive reviews in classical visualization or in VR. Forward thinkers who are interested in bringing new Designs to life are welcomed for this position.



Responsibilities

What You'll Do…

  • Collaborate with Surface Primary, Design engineering, Color & Materials, and Design team to produce accurate VRED model for every K-Loop during the Theme Feasibility process in the K-Loop Showroom.

  • Support Community Class A primaries in the creation of up to date, full-vehicle (engineering and aesthetic) digital models within community for Design and DTO in-context reviews.

  • Ability to model, texture, and apply lights within VRED. Identify and locate geometrically contextual parts (c/o and B-side parts) to enable complete vehicle reviews.

  • Willingness to present to and guide senior management through 3D Model creation.

  • Provide community lessons-learned to Digital Configuration Leader and fresh eyes feedback on Leader pilots.

  • Able to support other DTO disciplines on as-needed basis (surfacing, releasing parts, studio engineering)

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • B.S. degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience developing Digital models or Polygon surfaces

  • 3+ years of experience developing Class 1A surface, utilizing Ford's C3P/C3PNG toolset.

Even better, you may have…

  • Thorough working knowledge of the Surface development process from Design conception phase though production release for both Exterior and Interior components

  • Understanding of data structure within C3P/C3PNG

  • Proficient with developing VRED models

  • Expanded knowledge in colors. materials and part breakup
